The story of the artwork:
Family Travelling Together
Throughout all walks of life as a family we take our journeys together. From one meeting place to another as we as first nations people are connected to country, through our kinship and our Dreamtime-
The land the water the spirits connect us as one, in harmony and balance as we did then, as we do now, and as we will do in dream time.
This land always was and always will be ours.
About the Artist:
Patricia Cerminara
I am a Gamilaori woman born in Yenda in NSW on Wiradjuri country. My Great grandmother, Ellen Mcgown, was born in St George in Queensland on Gamilaori country. My mother, Patricia Evans, was born in Walgett in NSW on Gamilaori country.
I am from a big mob, I have 11 brothers and sisters, I have four children and nine grandchildren, family is important to me.
I come from a long line of Aboriginal artists, we are all creative and I love taking people on my cultural journeys through my art. I use my brushes as if I were the water the earth and the animals gliding over country.
By having self-confidence and spiritual meaning my work shows my connection to country as art is my culture, my work and my history.
My paintings are my stories of my country, a map of my history, a history of the great spirit ancestors of our Dreamtime.
My paintings are inseparably woven with my love of the land. My art as seen by the viewer is "dancing, singing and talking for the land", as the viewer steps inside with vision.'
